beauty without bones 3: *Acantocephalus alabamensis*

Acantocephalus alabamensis is a fish parasite belonging to Phylum Acantocephala. They have an armed proboscis with sclerotized hooks which is used to attach to intestinal mucosae of their hosts. During heavy infections parasites can cause a severe damage and erosion of mucosae and even oclusion of intestinal lumen.
