Sacha Inchi originated in central and South America. Native Americans have been consuming various parts of the Sacha Inchi plant since time immemorial. Sacha Inchi has played a vital role in various aspects of life of the Indigenous societies in the region before European colonisation.

  • Till now (July 2018), there are only 100+ academic publications on "Sacha Inchi" as retrieved from Web of Science and Google Scholar. Research on Sacha Inchi is relatively scarce despite enormous economic potential.
  • Sacha Inchi has higher yield of oils when grown 900m above sea-level.
  • Sacha Inchi oil normally contains around 80% of unsaturated fatty acids, and the ratio of omega-6/omega-3 is typically around 1:1 左右,the ratio widely regarded as the most beneficial to human body.
  • Due to high content of unsaturated fatty acids in Sacha Inchi oil,it is extremely prone to oxidation. The stability of Sacha Inchi oil can usually be improved by roasting, addition of antioxidants, microencapsulation and emulsification.
