Nasa has recently discovered 7 Earth sized planets which in the habitable zone of their star about 40 light years away. They are almost in conditions very similar to Earth with the right atmospheric conditions which could potentially harbor intelligent life.
This is the first time we have ever discovered so many Earth-like planets within the same star system. The 7 planets are at a distance less than the distance between the sun and mercury, from each other.
