Real operations in augmented reality

Gamers are considered to be the main consumer of augmented reality devices. However, specialists from other spheres of life gradually begin to take advantage of the expanded three-dimensional image.

In Texas, at the Houston Research Center for Health, a functional endoscopic surgery was performed for the recurrence of chronic rhinosinusitis. The case was difficult because the patient had fibro-bone disorders, which completely blocked the drainage of the left frontal sinus.

The operation was conducted by a team of surgeons led by Dr. Martin Chitardi, MD, head of the Department of Otorhinolaryngology at McGovern.

Technologically, the operation was divided into two stages - first a detailed endoscopic examination was carried out, then using Stopler's Scopis Target Guided Surgery (TGS) technology, a model was built on which surgeons identified the most effective and safe routes for the operation.
