Environmental Impacts of Shrimp Farming in Bangladesh

We like to visit sea food restaurants and preferred food in the sea food restaurants are the tropical prawns that's why the demands for these prawns are increasing.

Western Sea food Restaurants are getting their supply of food from the Bangladesh but the question is are there any environmental problems that are related to the farming of the shrimps. To find the answers Swedish Society for Nature conservation had to travel to the Bangladesh.

There is a Prawn Industry mafia in Bangladesh who are affecting the lands of poor. There are many people whose lands are no more fertile and they are facing very hard times. There lands are flooded with salt water and because of aggressive shrimp farming.

They can't use their own lands to grow crops and provide sufficient nutrition to their children that's why they have becomes victims of malnutrition.

In rivers when they use mosquitoes nets to catch Prawn fish larva than they not only catch Prawn's larvas they also kill other kind of fish. Problem of river erosion is also increasing and that could have very devastating impacts on the environment of the region.
