The human brain is many times more powerful than the best supercomputers that are out there today. And a study that was published early last year , shares some new insight on how much we might have underestimated the power and capacity that it has.
New research suggests that the human brain might have 10x the capacity we originally thought.
Researchers from Salk Institute conducted research that enabled them to conclude that our human brains are able to store one petabyte of data. That's roughly equivalent to 10x the data that we originally believed that it was capable of storing. These new memory measurements are a breakthrough for the field of neuroscience, discovering that the brain is able to retain information more than anyone ever imagined.
This means that the human brain might have the potential to be able to hold as much information in its memory as is contained on the Internet.
All of the advancements that we have seen in the area of technology are impressive, but what's even more astounding is the power and capacity of the human brain which surpasses the most advanced supercomputers out there today.
Neuroscientists are dedicated toward advancing research in this area in order to better understand the workings of the mind, and how it really goes about using its computational-like resources.
Though, some have suggested that trying to understand the brain's activity in its entirety is a pipe dream of sorts. Perhaps the workings of the human mind are far too complex for us to ever fully decipher. However, technology sure has helped us to come a long way in trying to decode it.

That is amazing... and very interesting! I just wish I could figure out how to tap into a lot of that stored knowledge! ;)

Really interesting, I'd never imagined that we could store that amount of info lol. Good job!

Well, some of our brains might be 10x. Others, I am not so sure. :)

I think it's possible that over the years we have used our brains less and less. Look at the pyramids for example...
