From Burgers to Battling Bitterness: Beef and Discoveries on Taste Improvement

We have enjoyed beef for a wide array of delicacies: from steaks, burgers, jerky, tops for pizza and more. Who would have though that it is not just a mere source of protein but also a bitter taste blocker as well!

It is hard to take bitter medicines and people usually prefer those products which are at least pleasant in the senses. There are even studies supporting the claim that providing nasty-flavoured medicines can cause further stress to the patient, causing them to become ill longer.

Latest research conducted by the University of Manitoba showed that beef peptides have the potential to block our tongue's bitter taste receptors. That's quite a good news for the pharmaceutical industry having another option in improving the taste of their medicines.
