PLANT TISSUE CULTURE- Subculturing Gardenia Brighamii

in science •  7 years ago

In this clip I am subculturing a Gardenia Brighamii plant. I did this work as part of some research I did for my Plant Tissue Culture Certificate from The University Of Hawaii.

Plant tissue culture is a collection of techniques used to maintain or grow plant cells, tissues or organs under sterile conditions on a nutrient culture medium of known composition. Plant tissue culture is widely used to produce clones of a plant in a method known as micropropagation.

"subculturing" is simple the process of moving a plant from the vessel and media it is currently in to a new vessel with new media.
