How can there be hope for humanity when this is what we are up against?

Anyone who is a scientist has probably come across these people online in the last few years - yes, you know it, they lurk out there waiting for the meerest mention of the code words: "flat earth". It's like the bat signal for their madness, their contrarian insanity, their permanent lapse of reason because, you know, being illogical makes them feel "special".
