A huge panda-shaped solar power plant launched in China

in science •  7 years ago

Most solar farms make their grids in columns and rows. But recently there has been a slight variation in the design of a newly constructed solar power plant in Datong city of China. China's New Energy Group, a commercial company, has designed a 245-acre solar farm in a giant pandemic shape.

In the first phase, the construction of a 50 MW plant was completed on June 30th. The project has started supplying electricity to a grid in the northwestern part of the country and the next year, there is a plan for making another panda-shaped farm.

The company is considering the Panda Power Plant capable of generating 3.2 billion kilowatt solar power in the next 25 years. And this will prevent the use of millions of tons of coal, which generates electricity. As well as reduce the carbon emissions of 2.74 million tonnes.

The company has worked with UNDP to implement Panda Power Plant. UNDP has said in a statement that they have taken up this huge initiative to increase awareness of clean energy among young people of China. They expressed hope that more such monumental solar power projects will be built in the next five years.
