The Importance of Magnetism

in science •  6 years ago

Recently the aerospace and engineering company Boeing, famous for its rocketry and airliners, constructed the worlds biggest magnet. The magnet weighs 50,183 tons which is almost the weight of 100,000,000 pounds! It will be used for magnetic research purposes. The Earths core will be modeled. The core provides a life enabling cloak called the magnetic field around the Earth, caused by the friction of hot metals such as iron and cobalt. This field deflects most of the Suns radiation and without it life would not be able to exist.
