The true value of a dead mouse and beetle vomit!steemCreated with Sketch.

Sorry about this subject, but it was interesting enough that I decided to post it. It would be interesting to know exactly what these beetle vomit secretions are, because they could be used to stop gangrene, and possibly Necrotising Fasciitis; by stabilizing the wound bed, or interrupting the wound spread by altering the Fascia.

One more bug source for medicine is not a bad thing, we already use quite a few, and they work well.

Just a thought....

thanks sir smithlabs, this is just what I needed to see tonight.

Then My work here is done, ROFLOL!

It could be a new medical tool, but it is gross for sure. Wanted to make people think.

So, did you get some one to help you think? ROFLOL! :)

This really is a gross post, but it was so interesting, I just had to post it.

:)

haha! did you get anyone saying that you grossed them out? When I did a post about those little worms that hide in crickets and grasshoppers people were totally grossed out and told me I should have put a warning label on! lol.

Well the title was kind of a warning label I guess. Grossing out people is a grand calling, ROFLOL! They do not have to actually read it.... :)

BUT, I sent this to the wound care association; and maybe they will have a look at using it to restrict gangrene. THAT would be wonderful for sure!

I hope they use the idea. Be Blessed.

:)

sir smithlabs, that would be wonderful if it could be used in that way, I've heard that maggots are good for wounds because they eat the bacteria, is that true?

Yes, it is true, there are now medical grade maggots. They are useful because they will only eat necrotic tissue that is already dead; they can be released into a festering wound, and they will clean it right up!

I had a class on Maggots in 2007. The instructor treated a man that was scheduled for a leg amputation who had a fistula (Infected tube) from his hip to the inside of his knee. The instructor accepted the patient, because he came and asked for maggot help.

He told him that he was too far along for maggot therapy. The patient asked him what he had to loose, a leg? That made him laugh, so he decided to try, even though he didn't think it would work.

He treated the hip, hoping to get a higher amputation for the patient, but when he found them coming out in the bandage inside the knee; he knew he had a chance. After six months work, the patient walked out on two legs, with the fistula healed, and the wounds healthy and healing.

:)

ha! holy cow, medical grade maggots! amazing story, that would be a post right there what you just wrote!

It was amazing, maybe if I can dig out the reference; because it is not really mine to publish as a post. I went to the wound healing conferences for about a decade, and learned a massive amount, from dedicated professionals.

I saw a lot of things a lot worse than this mouse! But the dedication these people bring is inspiring! What can be healed is hard to believe.

:'(

It's gross but interesting and potentially valuable. Very interesting for sure.

I thought so too, but I was a little reserved about posting it. Some people might be offended, and just grossed out. But it really could become a tool for wound healing.

I sent this to the Association for the Advancement of Wound Care (AAWC.ORG) with recommendations. I am no longer a member, but they may get interested....

:)

Good idea!

I hope they cab make use of it! Might save some ones limb or life.

Does NOT get any better than that.

:)
