Genetics and your Sense of Taste

You guessing right. Gene CD 36 is asocciated with obesity. In in vivo experiments the reduction of mRNA expression was observed in fat rats or mice with obesity. CD 36 protein is situated in taste bud cells, with higher amount in circumvallate papillae. Practically it is assumed that reduction in CD 36 protein lead to lower sensitivity to lipid and thus higher attraction (consumption) to (of) fats.
