5 Animals That Can Predict DisasterssteemCreated with Sketch.

All through history, there have been reports of animals activities before some natural disasters occur. Some of us even saw these behaviors and some of us only heard about animals sensing tsunamis, earthquakes, etc. This is because animals have more developed senses than humans and so are more likely to ''predict'' some natural events. Researching the behavior of these animals can lead to significant changes in preparation for this events and even stopping it from happen.

So let's take a look at some of the animals that have ''superpowers''!

LADYBUGS

To preserve their body moisture, ladybugs bunch together thus safeguarding against drying out. So if you see this behavior it's probably super hot weather on the way.

FLAMINGOS

It was December 2004, when big tsunami hit India and Sri Lanka. The massive tsunami triggered off the coast of northern Sumatra island killed more than 150,000 people in a dozen countries in the area. Flamingos flew to higher grounds abandoning their low-lying breeding areas before Tsunami hit the coastline.

SHARKS

After tagging sharks, scientist Neil Hammerschlag of The R.J. Dunlap Marine Conservation Program at the University of Miami discovered that sharks are not like other animals. They don't run away from disaster, they chase it. In this case, we're talking about storms. So, it's kinda fair to say that sharks are storm chasers. Will humans use this approach and try to predict storms?

BEES

If it rains, there are no bees. Think about that next time it rains. Bees take shelter in their hives before it rains because they sense moisture changes in the atmosphere.

UNDERGROUND ANIMALS

Recorded by a Roman historian, Aeliann, in 372 B.C, animals such as insects, weasels, rats, snakes and many animals emerged from the underground and escaped the city of Helike before the earthquake.

If we learn more about these behaviors we can probably predict some natural disasters and evacuate people from dangerous areas before it happens. Shall we do it?

Let's see what future holds...
