Another interesting way of proving to someone that the geometry of the earth is (kind of) spherical, is that, at least in principle, you could walk in some direction, and go back to your initial position making only two sharp 90º turns (compared to the three turns required to travel along the edge of a rectangle). Triangles on spherical surfaces seem to behave very strangely when you're actually on top of the sphere ^^
