First in my series on the fictional languages of The Aetherverse. Old Mithneshi was the earliest conlang I developed for the novel and its supporting short stories. Originally it was meant to be a universal common language for all Sapien societies, but its overly complex grammar made it an unsuitable candidate. Instead, I ended up using it as the liturgical language of the esoteric Mithneshi Coven.
According to H'jani xenolinguists, Old Mithneshi may be a highly structured derivative of the ecstatic glossolalia experienced by the early Mithneshi through extended exposure to Aetherspace. However, there are competing theories.
