Once they're adults and finish reproducing, they don't die but transform themselves back into juvenile polyps.

They revert back to sexually immature stage. Thier cells convert into thier earliest form and grow anew.
Thier tentacles retract thier bodies shrink, and they sink to the ocean floor to start the cycle all over again. Not just once, they can do it over and over again.

If a mature turriptopsis is threatened, injured, or starving it attaches itself to a surface in warm ocean waters and convert into blob.
It cells then undergo a process called "Transdiffrentiation" in which the cells essentially transform into different types of cells.

Muscles cells can become sperm or eggs.
Nerve cells can change into muscle cells.
They can only die if they get eaten by another fish, or if desease strikes the jelly.

The immortal jellyfish was discovered in the Mediterranean sea 1883
Its unique regeneration was not known until the mid 1900s.
This jellyfish have adapted so well to thier environments
For example those living in tropical water have 8 tentacles, while those living in temperate regions have 24 or more tentacles.

No one knows how old the oldest immortal jellyfish is.
Ther is no way to establish the age of individual. Besides being eternal, they are spreading through the oceans of the world.
They are getting free rides ins ships, when in port. After unloading thier cargo, ships suck in water to fill thier ballast tanks. So that they can effeciently sail the oceans.

This gives the jellyfish more chances to meet with immortal jellyfish of the other sex.
