Week 4 (September 2018)
Welcome to Meanwhile in Seattle. In this series I post images and write about anything related to what's going on in Seattle, Washington and the surrounding area. It's a chance for you to catch a glimpse of the daily life out here. Sometimes these posts will be general to all of the area and sometimes it may be more personal, like what I did on a weekend out here. Either way, I hope you enjoy seeing a different perspective on this area that I call home.
Green Lake Park and Neighborhood
Today I thought it would be fun to show off one of the many great parks out here in Seattle. This park is called Green Lake Park and has a community center with a pool, beaches, lake access for carry boats, baseball and soccer fields, playgrounds and fishing. The lake has a paved trail for both walking and biking and there are separate lanes, walkers stay in your lane and watch out! The trail is about 2.8 miles around the whole lake and it's very pretty in the fall or spring when the cherry blossoms are in bloom. Geese and ducks are common and occasionally you'll see an eagle or a heron if you're lucky.
As you can imagine, it's a very popular park and most busy on weekends in the summer. It's popularity has spread to the living areas around the lake and development has been changing the face of the neighborhood over the last decade. Housing prices have sky rocketed and as a result, large apartment and condominium buildings have been popping up to meet the demand. An average house on Green Lake is around 1.5 million dollars today.
