Kelps are amazing seaweed! why? because they are the biggest seaweed on Earth (can reach up to 100m long!).
They also constitute seaweed forests with high production, biodiversity and ecological function. And not only that, kelp are also used for cosmetics, food, feed and can also be converted into biofuel.
On the picture below, this is a beautiful Saccharina latissima growing along the Irish western coast (the brown thing around me ;) )
