The first release of the brand new Google Chrome extension: "Scam Block Plus" is now available. The purpose of Scam Block Plus (SBP) is to protect Google Chrome users' privacy and to protect them also from online "Phishing scams" by blocking them.

What are phishing scams?

There are different kinds of phishing scams: There are phishing scams which target small companies, and there are also scams which target bigger ones. The name of this cyber threat is  business email compromise (BEC).

The FBI says that since January 2015, there has been a 1300% increase in losses, and now totaling over $3 billions of dollars and rising. On 21 March 2017, the US Department of Justice distributed a prosecution against Evaldas Rimasauskas, for robbery of over $100 million In deceitful email bargain conspire against multinational web organizations. On 27 April 2017, Fortune revealed that Facebook and Google succumbed to a phishing scam. Throughout two years, Google and Facebook wired $100 million to a fraud.

There are many phishing scams which try to attack everyone, including inviduals. On 3 May 2017, over one milion Gmail users got hit by a phishing scam called the Google Docs Phishing Scam. It was an OAuth assault. In the Google Docs Scam, the aggressor made a fake rendition of Google Docs and requested authorization to peruse, compose and get to the messages of the victim.

What's the role of Scam-Block-Plus?

The Scam-Block-Plus (SBP) can be used by businesses in order to protecting the stuff of theirs from phishing scams. Phishing scams can attack you even while you are visiting your preferred social network or while you are reading emails you received.

                                                   

The main advantage of the SBP is that it prevents phishing scams from stealing your private data which can be sometime essential. When you receive an email which contains a link and you click that link, a new tab is opened in which the linked page is displayed. In case that the link you clicked is not listed on the global trust list of SBP, or not listed in the user's private trust-list, then the tab is opened in an incognito mode. It makes the opened website think that the user is logged out everywhere, it includes:  Facebook, Gmail, Twitter, PayPal etc'. SBP prevents the user from entering any textual data while visiting website in an incognito mode. So the user can't login or register to Gmail, Facebook, etc', While typing his private data. 

By that SBP blocks phishing scams from doing illegal actions for instance,  buying, sharing, and retweeting on behalf of their victims. In many cases, the victim is not aware of the fact that he has been scammed, which can worse his situation!

In addition to that, Scam-Block-Plus blocks untrusted websites from downloading files, to protect its users from different kinds of virus injections. 

Scam-Block-Plus notifies its users if it prevents untrusted websites from doing actions that may compromise their security.
