Folks, Would You Like Big Brothers to Continue to Watch You?steemCreated with Sketch.

Or someone else, like your insecure super smart spouse who may be able to catch exactly were you have been?

Or your health instructor who caught you on one too many cheat days through your visited location?

Welcome to back end surveillance!

Where big brother like iOS or Android continues to log your movements without you even knowing it.

For some of the Steemians here who already knew me for more than a year knew that I acquired an iPhone 6S some time ago.

I still use it once a while but ever since iOS 12 has been upgraded this phone has been really draining up and the screen has been lagging of response.

According to Machines support center KL rejected to repair it because it was not repaired by them before, hence the parts were not original

So now, I have my Hwawei with me while I kept my iPhone for other more personal use.

Still love the facetime because it's very clear and Skype seemed to work better there

But...

Though I thought I already switched off most of the location settings, apparently the phone still tracks my location.

By the way, if you are on airplane mode, and you have WiFi access, you are tracked by your phone

But there is a way to clear it and switch it off if you want to.

  • Step 1: Go to settings

  • Step 2:

Head over to privacy in settings.

  • Step 3:

    Head over to location services.

Note: You can opt to switch this off all together, but many other functions like maps will not work.

  • Step 4:

    Head over to System Services

Which means these softwares are actually running background without you realising.

Scroll down and look for this; significant locations. You will actually see your recorded locations all over.

  • Step 6: (Your choice)

However I do not guarantee if your information is already saved in the cloud. That, I have not done further investigation.

After that you can opt to switch it off; but there are no guarantees that you are totally un-monitored. As long as you are connected, you are pretty much followed by the big brother.

What do you think? Would you opt this in and out?

I think there are 2 sides of a coin, and there are good and bad. These services were created for the sake of securing your phone and if anything happens to your device, you could trace it, block it, and not allow anyone else to use your phone, moreover access it.

But there are also bad people out there who will make use of such data for bad intentions. So it all boils down to morale and wisdom.

Which the world is sorely lacking further these days.

Do share your comments below and let's share our thoughts and concerns even.

Of course, let's not fight. Everyone is entitled to their opinion.

Only to see if it is beneficial for self and everyone or not.

Until Then

Keep calm and clear your cache (?)

I always say technology is a blessing and a curse . I say that because I appreciate the new technologies rising everyday, it helps us keep track of things, keep up with our families etc. But at the same time with technology comes abuse (breach of privacy) and that’s something that will be hard to stop. All we can do is educate ourselves as you are doing here and protect ourselves as much as possible.

My husband just got into the IT field and he is teaching me a lot about safety and security so I’m thankful for that. Thank you for sharing this with us.

Totally agree with you.
Great to know that your hubby is helping you to understand more about security.

Yes it has really been nice :)

Hehe already cleared that and stop getting tracked. Scary to know how my phone can trace myself from anywhere and anytime.

Yes, well I do realise that when you are on power saved mode and you have no WiFi, the trace is harder.

I am have switched off the services but kept locations on. Let's see how it works.

Haha I had switched off and so far no record la.

Awesome to know that!

I already wondered why our phones did these things.

It seems reasonable explanation. Although it is usually the big companies that make use of this whole mountain of personal data.

Now we should find out the true destination of our personal information.

Thank you for giving us this valuable information, appreciated @littlenewthings.

All Best, Piotr.

Now we should find out the true destination of our personal information.

Though this sounded a little gloomy but it can be challenging to figure this out.

Thank you so much for making time to comment my post

I will probably to check and see. There was. I remembered my boss told me before.

I still dont understand until today, why you choose to waste your money to buy a second hand iphone 6s when you can't even repair / fixed.

According to Machines support center KL rejected to repair it because it was not repaired by them before, hence the parts were not original

Obviously , they wouldn't bother to fix your phone. if i'm working there, i probably wont even. I mean, better to buy original than second hand that has no value in it and can't even be fixed. Seriously, learn to think before buying anything. such a waste in money.

I still dont understand until today, why you choose to waste your money to buy a second hand iphone 6s when you can't even repair / fixed.

Testing purposes never needed a brand new phone.

It is still useful nonetheless.

In the end,

We learn something new every day. Who would have thought a claimed factory fixed phone is rejected by copyright reserved personnel?

Still, you waste money for nothing. No one in their right mind would buy a phone what more second hand phone jst for testing purposes. No one.
What more copyright.

You already like so financially tight with your finance, yet you go buy this kind of thing that is lagging etc.No value at all. Can't fixed. seriously, sorry to say this, use your brains a bit.

I am sorry you are taking a perfectly security related post so negatively and totally taking the whole article out of context.

The decisions that was made before were specifically for certain reasons. And it was well spent for that purpose; but that has nothing to do with the context of this post.

Regarding using brains yes it is very true and important to weigh on with wisdom. There are many things that is unnecessary to scrutinize if able to see things in context; and not out of context.

I hope that you will be in a much happier mood with optimism with other people. There is always a better way to see things.

Matthew 7:3 - 5 emphasise that a lot.

Have a pleasant day @chloephuan93
