Preparing for the New Year with the A.R.T. of change

A.R.T. stands for

AIM
RELEASE
TRANSFORM

That's the process Robert Gene Smith teaches to "change our minds" (and heal ourselves). I posted about his Faster EFT method the other day, and today I watched another whole lecture of his. Now I only have to be disciplined enough to follow through and do this regularly :)

  • At around 0:50 hrs in, he demonstrates the tapping process on a participant.
  • And as of 1:02 hrs in, he gives clear instructions on how to go about the Aiming, Releasing and Transforming process. See video below.

AIM

It starts simply by making a list of things that you don't want (anymore). Perfect exercise to release the old year. Maybe you don't want to be angry anymore, or broke, or overweight.

Next to the things on your list, you write, "How do you know that you don't want these things anymore?"
Here you list the impact those things have on you or your relationships, how they make you feel, and how you behave or what you do, when you are angry or broke, etc. You will draw all of these things from memories.

This will give you great insight on your behavioural patterns.

Now, ask yourself what the worst case scenario would be. If you allowed those behaviours to continue without ever doing anything about them - what would be the worst that could happen?

Once you have your list, you can move on to the next part.

RELEASE & TRANSFORM

The good thing about making these "Don't-want" lists is that you end up feeling like shit 😂

Why is that a good thing? Because you've aimed right. You've transported yourself back to those unpleasant memories, and now that you're there, you can change them.

You need to go the feeling, otherwise you have nothing to work with. If you're only thinking about it, and you distract yourself quickly before you feel anything, it won't work. You need to allow yourself to go there, if you really want to create change.

But also don't stop there. "Don't just feel like crap!" says Robert in the video ;) "Change it!"

You can now use the tapping process to "release and let go" and transform these unpleasant memories into good memories. Our mind is capable of that. You can totally change your emotional response to those memories from "This kills me!" to "Why did this bother me so much?" or even "This is actually pretty funny...".

Tap until the unpleasant feeling is gone or until you pass out ;)

The goal is to transform it into joy or at least neutralize it.

Of course there are memories that are so horrible that you'll never feel joy when you remember them, but those are exactly the ones that traumatized you, and that have been holding you back and limited you all your life. If you manage to neutralize them, so they don't have power over you anymore, you are literally changing your life and you will become a new person. Because none of your decisions or behaviors will subconsciously be influenced by this memory anymore. You will begin behaving like a person who this horrible thing never happened to!

Start a Happy Journal

After you changed your bad memories, remember and reinforce the good ones!

Make a Happy Journal, in which you write and collect only positive memories. You can reinforce them with the tapping process as well.

This is something I have started doing - I just focus on what I want, repeat it in my mind and tap my collar bone at the same time. Instead of being worried "What if xyz happens?" I now visualize my desired outcome and tap it in.

It's been working beautifully on "small stuff" so far. I'm working myself up to the big stuff 😀

If you truly want to create change next year, I highly recommend watching this. See it as a free class in personal development.

Hmmm...fascinating! Will watch the video to see the process. Part of me instantly thinks that the hard wired subconscious beliefs that cause unwanted behavior is ignored, but I'm open to understanding something different:)

Yes, I thought that, too. According to him, that's exactly what he changes, though. I have to say, from some of the stories, I'm tempted to believe it..

This transformation is quite incredible:
