How Highly Sensitive People Are Emotionally Distressed

People who are highly sensitive to touch have difficulty being able to touch another person without their skin getting cold, or feeling uncomfortable. Sensory processing disorder is basically a personality or temperamental characteristic involving a "larger than normal response to physical, visual, or emotional stimuli". A person with S.D. may be very easily disturbed by even the smallest things such as cold or a slight touch. Highly sensitive people may even feel the need to flee from others as they experience a wide variety of social anxiety. Some people who are highly sensual have difficulty maintaining friendships or sexual relationships because of this.

There are two basic types of Highly Sensitive People (HSPS): the accelerated type and the slow type. The former have a much faster response to stimuli, while the latter tend to take their time when confronted with new conditions. In fact, many of them have difficulty remembering events that happened several months ago. They might react by tensing up, squeezing, shaking, sweating, dizziness or other types of emotional reactions. In addition to emotional reactions, they can also be physically affected. For example, a highly sensitive person can be allergic to certain substances, unable to eat food that is high in sugar, or develop rashes that are raised or darkened because of contact with certain chemicals.

It is estimated that around twenty percent of the population is highly sensitive. It has been said that a combination of bad diet, overactive imagination and anxiety can lead to hypersensitivity. Most doctors believe that it has something to do with genetics, although other factors such as stress and environmental factors have also been linked with hypersensitivity. In fact, there is a strong genetic component to S.D. In fact, families with a history of S.D. have a higher risk of developing it.

Because highly sensitive people have increased levels of reactivity, it is not surprising that they often experience symptoms of hsps. The severity of these symptoms can vary widely between individuals, although they can range from mildly annoying to severely debilitating. Some people may not suffer hsps at all, whereas others may only suffer mild effects. Some sufferers may not even recognize that they have S.D.

Most highly sensitive people will be overwhelmed by either high level of sensory stimuli, or low level. They can become easily overwhelmed by anything, since their over-sensitive system is so reactive. This can lead to anxiety, panic attacks, extreme levels of stress, difficulty concentrating, difficulty sleeping, irritability and depression. It can even lead to suicide attempts if the over-sensitiveness is not treated.

Some symptoms that are common among highly sensitive people include: chest pain, nausea, heart palpitations, sweating, and upset stomach. Of course these symptoms can be due to many other things as well. Some causes may even go beyond these symptoms. For instance, hsps can be caused by too much salt in the diet, which may result in high blood pressure. It can also be caused by the type of clothing a person wears, which can cause excessive sweating. Certain medications such as cold and flu viruses can also trigger a breakout of hsps.

Highly sensitive people have a difficult time in social situations, and tend to shy away from these situations. One of the reasons for this is that their minds and bodies are constantly being overwhelmed with too much information, which leads them to be overly sensitive. In order to overcome this problem, it is important to know how to de-stress your body and relax the mind and muscles.

Learning how to calm down and de-stress is important for the highly sensitive person. Many people choose to use natural methods or herbs, which have been shown to work very effectively in helping people with high sensitivity to help them relax and overcome the many symptoms of hsps. It is important to remember that just because someone is highly sensitive does not mean they are unable to live a normal life. Dealing with the symptoms of hsps can become easier by finding a method of relaxation that works for each individual.
