The body of an eight-year-old boy, whose disappearance at the end of February shocked the whole of Spain, was found on Sunday in the trunk of the car of the father's couple, the Interior Ministry announced.
The search for the small Gabriel Cruz, who disappeared on February 26 in a town near Almeria, in the southeast of the country, had mobilized a thousand agents, firemen and volunteers.
"The Civil Guard, in the morning today, has arrested the couple of Gabriel's father when he was transporting the child's body in the trunk of the car," Interior Minister Juan Ignacio Zoido said.
Gabriel Cruz was at his grandmother's house, in the town of Las Hortichuelas, when he left to play at a friend's house, not far from there. It was not seen since then.
