First what is sexualization?
Sexualization is to make something sexual in character or quality, or to become aware of sexuality, especially in relation to men and women. Sexualization is linked to sexual objectification.

Dear parents/guardians, how well do you dress your female child? How well do you educate them to be self confident rather than being a 'sex object'.

These days I see "girls" wearing makeup , high heels, tight dresses , being involved in beauty pageants etc. This generation now see you have to expose yourself to be "seen" and "accepted" by the entire world. Social media has propelled us into forgetting our ethics/morals. All they care about is being "sexy" and "pretty". You can be both yet don't be extraordinary where you need to expose your body part so you can be seen sexy.

The well-known fact is that girls will figure out how to see themselves as sex objects, or that girls will create tensions when they neglect to meet mainstream gauges of excellence/popular standards of the beauty world.

The hyper-sexualization that occurs in Hollywood; its toxic, there is no question. It affects all of us, including the young girls who are seeking an identity. Jane Fonda

But at the same time I'm worried about the consequences for the populace on the loose. Do media pictures of sexualized girls change the way we see children? Are individuals obligated to judge children as more advanced than they truly seem to be? It is safe to say that we will probably trust that young girls are willing members in sexual movement?

How does the majority of this give me concern? Here's a rundown of a few results of consequences of objectification which were found through research, quite a bit of which was finished utilizing the use of Google and textbooks

• Chronic regard for physical appearance leaves less psychological assets accessible for other mental and physical exercises;

• It restricts the frame and adequacy of girls' physical movements;

• It prompts expanded sentiments of disgrace about one's body;

• It makes appearance uneasy;

• It leads to more prominent body disatisfaction among girls and young ladies;

• It is related with negative psychological well-being outcomes in adolescent girls.

• The rate of anorexia nervosa among 10 to 19 years old girls amid a 50-year life span found that it paralleled changes in fashion and idealized body image.

• Young ladies who have more prominent body disappointment have prior beginning of smoking cigarettes;

• Self-objectification has been related with diminished sexual wellbeing among immature girls (measured by diminished condom utilize and decreased sexual self-assuredness);

• Idealized narrow beliefs of female sexual allure make it troublesome for a few men to locate an adequate partner or to completely appreciate closeness with their female accomplices.

Be it that as it may, my brutal response isn't about religious beliefs, personal standards of conducts. But rather for us to stop sexualizing our children,allow them to play with their mates, go to the park etc. As it is now the impact of this early sexualization of girls is real and its not good at all.

Is there any way we can persuade the organizations/companies that pitch/sell sexuality to young ladies to simply stop it since it isn't right? No way! What's more, I can't see our administration/government doing anything that would put the welfare of children over the main issue of Big Business (sorry for the cynicism). Along these lines, as is so often the case with children, the buck stops with us. We the parents have the ability to transform our daughters into Bold and confident ladies with a healthy relationship with their sexuality.

I think there is a way to make organisations stop using our girls to attract business. And that is through the national assembly. They have to come up with appropriate laws that will ensure proper sanctioning of any organization caught in the act.

Very informative article.

@eurogee

Yes soon, maybe i will be the first female to raise such awareness. Thanks for reading sir

Everything they will use woman to advertise, even standing fan

The issue of girl sexualization is really a big one, even when a product is to be advertised all that they do is to use the picture of half naked ladies even where it is not necessary as if that is to only thing that makes the product sell properly. The most annoying part about all this is that most guys see ladies as an object they could pick up anywhere, use and dump. It is really saddening.

Its really saddening, i have seen people market human hair with an almost nude female.. Its indeed a sore sight to behold! Thanks for reading, i appreciate the visit.

The pleasure is mine.

Pretty good

Post well written, you have hit a major problem in raising female children....

Steem on

Wow.. This means a whole lot to me.. I will surely try and raise an awareness regarding it if the capital permits. Thanks for reading sir.

Tell them oo..nice one dear

This is good. Most times parents are the root cause, from childhood they put on short skirts for their kids. Many make up their kids .I was guilty but when i found that my girl is always in the mirror, enjoys short gowns and begs to be made up, i readjusted her and stopped most of those things. We need to re-orientate our kids. Even when they come home from the university, we should watch their dressing, grooming and styles. Many wouldnt want to be a sex object but their instigate it into men by their looks

Best advise! We need to change some things.. Thanks for reading

Wow this awesome

Thank you dear.

This raise the question of whether social media is a curse or a blessing to us . The truth is, it is a blessing but should be monitored.

There is also a need to adopt the 'suwe' 'ten ten' 'boju boju' kind of childhood we had then instead of computerizing everything. Children need to be monitored in terms of what they watch on screen and those they associate with.

This is truly deep and well written.

The media is def a blessing but one choose it to be a curse to them, some people can still be decent in social media era , some kids do engage in intellegent work, apps that asks questions and co.

We really need to monitor our kids, the 'ten ten' suwe era i don't think its ever gonna come back, i miss that time sha. Thanks for reading boss.

I love the way you addressed this to parents and guardians,its like correcting this big error to the root. Please also paste this on facebook,it needs to spread.

I sure will, i

The hyper-sexualization that occurs in Hollywood; its toxic, there is no question. It affects all of us, including the young girls who are seeking an identity.

It's true though. Especially in today's time, it's becoming real problem. It's a domino effect, because the more they sexualize themselves, the less they are respected by people around them, so the more they do it in insecurity.

Hectic post, but it's reality.

Talk soon

Its the problem we are facing i believe creating an awareness will curb it.. Thanks for reading , Talk soon☺

We the parents have the ability to transform our daughters into Bold and confident ladies with a healthy relationship with their sexuality.

Great insight and discussion. The problem is how many parents talk with their daughters about healthy relationship with their sexuality?. If that is engineered from the home, the world will have not option than to accept it.

Exactly, i see my age mates dressing their kids sexually and each time you try to give your own personal opinion on such they tell you to shove your opinion down your throat, forgetting this could damage the child's mentality of herself.

As a psychologist, i seriously will look into rising awareness on such when the capital permits.
Thanks for reading.

Whao, you are a psychologist. That is great. You people are needed everywhere. In school, hospitals even church .

Yes i am... Thanks for the recommendations.

• The rate of anorexia nervosa among 10 to 19 years old girls amid a 50-year life span found that it paralleled changes in fashion and idealized body image.

Do we even have such problems here? Here if you are slim it means you are hungry. If fat, evidence of good living :)

Our African kids are tough but my post is based on generalisation.

And yes we do have such problems, maybe its not documented, i have seen clear cases of anorexia nervosa amongst Nigerians, Just few tho!

Yeah, I understand. There's always an exception to every rule. Nice writeup.

Tough subject. I can't agree more with "Idealized narrow beliefs of female sexual allure make it troublesome for a few men to locate an adequate partner or to completely appreciate closeness with their female accomplices"
