Then people of different political parties, associate organizations, social, cultural, students, youth, workers, peasants organizations and people of all organizations, paid tribute to the language martyrs by placing wreaths at the Shaheed Minar.

Standing in the long queue, people of all walks of life, including politicians, diplomats, academics, teachers, students, honored the martyr's honor on the altar of Shaheed Minar. They surrounded the Khalipai in the pleasant alpina painted tower premises. At 12 noon, the name of the drill of people in the Shaheed Minar continued, till the morning.

On this day of 21st February, 1952, Bengali people got the honor of mother tongue in exchange for the blood of martyrs, including Salam, Jabbar, Shafiq, Barkat and Rafiq, in the movement for student-language Bangla. Later, on 17 November 1999, UNESCO announced the International Mother Language Day with respect to the historic great Ekushey. Since then, every year since 2000, Bangladesh has been celebrated every year with due dignity at international level including Bangladesh.
