There is some truth in this saying. From our upbringing we were told who we are suppose to be. Our social expectation on how you should behave to fit in the social norm.
It's not a surprise to notice even elderly people may still be searching for their identity. It takes lots of soul searching moments in clarfying who you are.
Be patient and you will discover yourself.
