Who else knew there was a Steem Shop? www.shopsteem.com

in shopsteem •  6 years ago  (edited)

OK, I know I'm slow, but I thought after 15 months here I would have heard about a real shop that accepts Steem and Bitcoin AND allows you to set up your own shop!

Seriously, is no one excited? When dstors and dcommerce were announced, everyone went wild with excitement......ahhhhh because there were tokens, profits and rewards involved? Perhaps this is why shopsteem hasn't been lauded from the hilltops, and that's a little sad.

But make no mistake, any form of commerce accepting crypto, especially STEEM is HUGE!!!!

I am now going to go and attempt to set up a bookshop on there. I am sure we won't actually sell much, if anything, from Thailand but it's the principal and supporting them and encouraging others to do the same that's important. That's how adoption begins.

Has anyone got any actual experience of buying something here or does anyone know who runs this site please?

So many questions!!

OK, enough from me. Please, everyone, we have consumerism, go buy some shit you don't need guilt-free under the premise you're supporting Steem!!!! Or even better, use it to set up your own shop selling physical or digital products and then we can ALL buy loads of shit we don't need. We can even sell shit to ourselves!! How bloody brilliant is this?

....and enjoy the rest of the weekend :-)

@whatsup apologies for the tag but have you seen this before please?

Hello, same, never heard before...
Where are they located?
But an awesome example, whatever they sell, necessary or not, a big step into the future.
Have a wonderful Sunday

I have no idea, I am hoping someone comes up with a name behind it. I will set up a few books on there later as we have a kids bookshop here. Hopefully I will find out more information then.
Have a great day too.....of course, minus beer and minus football lol

Okay, that is interesting! I didn't know this! I have some game keys that I have extras of... Perhaps I should also look at a shop....

Go for it and when I set my little bookshop up that will be 2 new shops on there! From little acorns, mighty oak trees grow as they say !

Hey, @nathen007.

According to the @shopsteem blog page, it's been around since August of 2016 but there's only one post and there doesn't appear to be any other activity on the account since then. There's been nothing happening on its Twitter page either. So, I'm not surprised that most of us haven't heard of it.

Incidentally, there's also a @steemshop, too, or there was at least meant to be. It's only post is from 8 months ago, and there's only a Discord link listed.

Oh, and if it matters, there happens to be an extra 't' in the link you provide between the 'p' and the 's'. It goes to an error page. :)

It does look like a dead end @glenalbrethsen, @Nathen

It could be it's just been quietly building over the last two and a half years. Most folks would be tooting their own horn, but maybe they've been doing it differently.

At any rate, it sounds like @nathen007 is on the case, so maybe once his book store is up and running we'll know more about the process and so forth. It's funny that it predates the other attempts to put up a community online store, but this is the first any of us are learning about it! :)

Dear @glenalbrethsen

Im sorry for such a late reply. For some readon I've missed your reply and I only had a chance to read it now.

Thx for always being so responsive :)

Cheers
Piotr

Im not sure it is dead. I just noticed the terms amd conditions were updated a few days ago. I will keep trying to find out who owns it!

Did you manage? Whats your experience so far?

ps.
You've menioned Thailand. Is that where do you come from? Your english is very good for Thai person ....

Hey @nathan007 I'm sorry I missed this somehow but I'm very thankful for your kind words! I created ShopSteem and am happy to answer any questions you might have. I'll also be super happy to get you set up to start your store there and begin posting your books for download or delivery.

The project is certainly in it's most early of phases. As you noticed I hadn't even started working on terms fully when I announced. I've been working on it for a bit but until I get some people using it then it's really hard to test for fringe error cases that could come up. That's why I'm so excited to see people like yourself giving this a look! As we get some usage we'll come across bugs and continue to improve.
