The night before Nyepi, you find Balinese on the streets watching or participating in loud and exciting Oggoh Oggoh monster parades with the purpose to send all demons far away, hoping that all bad spirits and unwanted negative energies will float away, never return for the rest of the year to come.

Nyepi Day in Bali is a Hindu New Year’s celebration unlike anywhere else on this planet.
The roads all over Bali are empty, there is no traffic and nobody steps outside of their homes. The airport remains closed for 24 hours and tourists are not allowed to go to the beach and have to stay at their hotels.
It's a time for meditation and reflection.
All routine activities come to a complete halt.
Yes! Even the barking dogs and meowing cats are relaxing on that day. The energy of the island feels afterwards apparently much lighter.
Largely, Nyepi is worth experiencing at least once in a lifetime!
It is considered as the most quiet day of the year, from 6am to 6am it is a day of fasting, especially self-reflection and anything that might interfere with that purpose is restricted. No fires, electricity allowed and all lights must be shut down.
I really miss those times!
What is your favourite holiday and don't you think we should celebrate a day of silence everywhere in the world?
A day of absolute purification of our environment at least for a few hours!

I don't think I would enjoy this holiday too much. We lost power for a few days and I was miserable! I am too addicted to Steemit LOL.

Haha sweet but trust me in Bali you could handle that electricity cut off, standing in the darkness, enjoying the stars ....I live there for 16 years but just moved back to Vienna to be helpful for my Mom who needs me. I really miss those special times on the island 🌴

Yes because the steemit submit form did not work, so I tried to use the app called eSteem where you can download photos directly @happyphoenix I could not give image credits and made a few mistakes, hoping I can edit those today.
