A peak into my treasure box.

in silver •  7 years ago  (edited)

I've already inspired a few steemians to want to go metal dectecting. Here's a taste of some of the treasures I have unearthed. Generally speaking silver items and coins are much easier to find than gold. The Lizard thing was a silver pin. It had the makers mark stamped next to sterling mark. To my surprise when I Googled it, the lady is a local California Jeweler, that is still in buisiness. The little sterling gun charm is one of my more recent favorites. That star is an older find from the Russian River in Sonoma County. It's sterling on top of copper, that was a clip on earring. I've read that there is more money lost in the ground than there is in circulation still. People were even less trusting of banks back when silver and gold coins where still used. There may just be a jar full of silver dimes buried in your yard! Some days you will only find trash, but you are still doing a good service for the environment. With a little persistence and luck you could be rewarded handsomely. Please #upvote #follow and maybe even #resteem If you enjoyed my treasures. May all your holes be filled with silver and gold.

I used a cheap detector in northern france last year and we found quite a lot of bullets from WW2. Quite cool but the detector kept going off for no reason so it was kind of frustrating.

Sometimes electrical interference from power lines can cause that. You can usually turn down the sensitivity to solve the issue. Too much trash in an area could also be a factor. In that case you would increase the discrimination setting. (Like switch to coin mode) Another main cause would be two detectors running on the same frequency. Hopefully helps if you try again. Really neat to find the ww2 bullets. Sometimes people find bombs over in Europe. Pretty scary

Sweet finds. Do a post on the type of equipment you use to find all this cool stuff :)

I'll have to post some shots of the machines I use. Mainly to show how much you can find with a cheap beat up second hand model... Like I'm using lol. The main unit I use is a Garrett ace 350. It retails for around $300 now but I picked it up used for $150 with some goodies included. ( headphones digging tools and such)

Wonderful return on investment for sure. My girlfriend loves this type of stuff and wanted to try it out this is encouraging for sure. So fun the rush of finding something of value or of history

It sure is fun

Very neat man came wait to see more!

I can't wait to find more!

wow this is quite cool! I feel like I've gone back in time.

I wish I could bring a detector in a time machine back to before the gold rush. Lol i'd be rich

@dirtyhippie
That would be cool!

Or a backpack dredge lol.
