A weekend filled with old coins!

Recently I got in a minor car wreck where I wasn't paying attention, and hit something. Everything was fine, except my car. I drive an older car, that's payed off and I will probably drive it till it dies, but my accident probably technically totaled my car. If we were to have taken it to a body shop the damage would have been fairly close to the value of the car if not more. So instead of taking it to a body shop, I had my grandfather call a friend of his that owns a junk yard. We got the parts within a week, and did the work in around 3 hours. All together it cost us about $65 and and part of a Saturday.

Thanks to my grandfather who worked at a body shop a long time ago, it was a simple task. I told him I wanted to repay him somehow, and knowing that he wouldn't take my money for it I offered to do a few chores around the house, help him with his beaver problem on his lake, but he decided that the best thing I could help him with was selling his little coin collection. The first picture above is a picture of his collection. He told me that if I can find a buyer for some of those coins we could call it even, and he was even going to give me a small percentage for my time. A few years back he offered me a similar deal, but I moved before I could help him out. Because I was planning on it before, I already had a full list of the coins and their approximate values saved in my phone.

He has around 70-80 coins in total, ranging in value from $1 for his mercury dimes to roughly $300 for a 1921-d Walking Liberty Half Dollar.

All together the collection should be worth around $900-1000 just depending on the buyers. I already have a buyer lined up for the 28 Washington silver quarters thanks to @sevinwilson. When I started going through these coins it made me think of my own coin collection and my dads. So after leaving my grandparents I went and found my dads coin collection, filled mainly with bicentennial quarters, which if they ever become worth more than $.25 we are rich! And my tiny coin collection that is hopefully going to grow. I am think about just purchasing all of my grandfathers remaining coins. That along with my newest coins that I am purchasing the 2017 and 2018 Steem Rounds!

Nice little collection. You should sock a little away for yourself!

That's the plan! I already have like 5-6 pieces picked out including the 2 oversized pennies, and if i can swing it the 1921-d walking liberty half dollar!

Price of silver has dropped.. I may have to lower my bid for the quarters.

We can go to the local coin shop and they will give us the fair value for the coins! Or we could sell it to them!

Whatever works! I've got them now, so we can do it whenever

The place is right next to the shop!!

Next to my shop?

Yessir!! I would like to go with you to see what they say!

Just let me know when!

What day works best for you?

Whenever, I've got the coins with me, we can go after work one day this week!
