The Australian Kookaburra Silver Bullion Coin Series 1990 - 2018
The Australian Kookaburra Silver Bullion Coin is one of my all time favourite bullion coins to have in my personal stack. The Kookaburra Coins are minted and issued by the Perth Mint, with the first coin being issued in 1990. An interested fact that I only recently found out is that the purity of the coins from 1990 - 2017 was .999 Fine Silver, the 2018 edition of the coin however has been increased to .9999 Fine Silver.
The current year Kookaburra Coins can be sourced directly from the Perth Mint or through a selection of trusted dealers around the world. There is a very healthy and vibrant secondary market for Kookaburra Coins, these can be sourced from coin shops, online forums, swap meets and even via eBay.
Each individual coin is housed in a sealed plastic capsule to protect the coin from the elements and to stop the silver from tarnishing. The 1oz Silver Kookaburra Coins come in 20 coin shrink wrapped rolls. You are also able to purchase a 100 coin box of Kookaburra Coins that is made up of 5 individual 20 coin rolls.

As I was putting together this post, it reminded just how beautiful and unique the design of each of these coins is. When I was actively trading Kookaburra Coins a few years back there were certain years that were extremely popular and sort after. The 1990 and 2008 coins were always hotly sorted after and tended to attract a higher premium than the other coins in the series.
