A piece of silver for my stack, that had to be a long one because; it shows a Pennsylvania long rifle.

Sometimes I grab a piece of silver just because it interests me, and this is one such instance. This piece is a 1 oz piece of sterling silver, in an unusually long shape; the show the complete Pennsylvania long rifle.

So, what do you think?

This one drew me specifically because I'm trying to build one of these right now. I'm interested in the flintlock mechanism, really fascinating method of ignition! Just not very reliable, LOL.

The back of the piece shows some history;

It was interesting the term Lock Stock & Barrel came from the Pennsylvania long rifle. Lots of shops could make the stock some could make the lock and fewer yet could make the barrel. When they pulled them all Under One Roof , the Pennsylvania long rifle was born. They were telling you that they were state-of-the-art shop, because they could build the entire gun.

I can appreciate this because I'm working on the barrel right now for the one I'm building, and it's not for the faint of heart! The rest of it's done I saved the best of the last I guess, LOL! This will be the first time I've ever rifled a barrel this long, wish me luck.
