As somebody that can pass as being somewhat normal has given me the opportunity to delve into the odd, the macabre, the strange, the bizarre, and the weird with few repercussions. While classmates cited Calvin and Hobbes as being their favorite comic strip, mine was the Far Side. I saw the genius in The Brothers Grunt while the show left the air 25 years ago it still receives hate but the creator went on to give the world Ed, Edd, & Eddie. I was late to the game with Don’t Hug Me I’m Scared and now I’m only just finding out about The Simpsons Couch Gag [You’re Next]
Home invasion has been a popular theme in films and some have been prominent as of late like the Purge series. The Simpsons Couch Gag [You’re Next] takes one of the most iconic scenes in television, the Simpson family sitting on their couch together, and adds the horror flick You’re Next to it.
Lee Hardcastle has plenty of other parodies including a mashup of John Carpenter’s The Thing and Disney’s Frozen. I loved claymation growing up. I watched Gumby reruns, I had a California Raisin Toy, and I only started watching SNL for Mr. Bill. I don’t know what I would have thought of that Mark Twain claymation movie if I saw it at a younger age but there was an appliance company that used claymation to push air conditioners and melted the dog which freaked me out.
