The deadly sin of pride: If you refuse to accept correction, you are committing a sin. Sirach 21:6

The theologian Thomas Aquinas explains that capital sins are those sins that give rise to others, the theologian goes so far as to list 7 sins: lust, gluttony, greed, sloth, wrath, envy, pride. The sin of pride is particularly serious because it definitely breaks the bond with God (deadly sin), and its origin is excessive love for oneself, which is the opposite of the love of God, the love projected towards the whole creation of God.
The apostle James defines sin as any omission of good: "If anyone, then, knows the good they ought to do and doesn't do it, it is sin for them", James 4:17. In other words, when we know that we must proceed or judge with righteousness and we do not do it, we commit sin. An example of this is the parable of the Good Samaritan (Luke 10): in front of those who need our help (our neighbor), we sin like the Levite who passes by or we act according to the golden rule like the Good Samaritan.
The proud is placed over other people, judges according to the flesh and perceives his neighbor with hostility, that is why he does not accept any type of correction, and about this the Book of Wisdom of Ben Sirach teaches us: “If you refuse to accept correction, you are committing a sin; and if you fear the Lord, you will make a sincere change in your ways”, Sirach 21:6.

About pride the Bible adds: "Whoever corrects a mocker invites insults; whoever rebukes the wicked incurs abuse. Do not rebuke mockers or they will hate you.", Proverbs 9:7-8. Pride is in essence the door and the way to folly and madness. The sensible man and the proud man oppose and reject each other like water and oil, like light and darkness.
The proud man looks for others who are like him, and those who share this sin coexist with difficulty with each other, homicides and wars occur frequently, and they maintain relationships between them as long as they find a common benefit and maintain the objectives. Friendship is only superficial and is subject to the pursuit of pleasure and apparent goods.
