Conversion to God is a consequence of the gift of fear of God or piety explains the Bible: "If you refuse to accept correction, you are committing a sin; and if you fear the Lord, you will make a sincere change in your ways", Sirach 21:6
The gift of fear of the Lord or serenity is defined as constancy, firmness, devotion, equanimity, stability. Those who fear God accept correction and the good path: To fear the Lord is to hate evil; I hate pride and arrogance, evil behavior and perverse speech", Proverbs 8:13.

The fear of God is also related to wisdom and instruction: "The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom", Proverbs 1:7, and also: "The beginning of Wisdom is the most sincere desire for instruction", Wisdom 6:17
The fear of God is a source of blessing: "If you will fear the LORD and serve him and heed his voice and not rebel against the commandment of the LORD, and if both you and the king who reigns over you will follow the LORD your God, it will be well.", 1 Samuel 12:14
God is no respecter of persons and seeks those who fear him: "I now realize how true it is that God does not show favoritism but accepts from every nation the one who fears him and does what is right.", Acts 10:34.
This teaching from the book of Sirach is showing us the basis of spiritual life, those who do not accept correction are fools, the opposite of the fear of God is the hardness of heart, hardness of heart does not allow us to listen to the other, the other, our neighbor, doesn't matter. Excessive love for oneself is the source of many sins and mistakes, the correction of this type of person is very difficult because the other is perceived in a hostile way. On the other hand, those who fear God have the inner teacher who permanently reveals the truth to them and these are the calls to the Kingdom of God.
