A Day Trip to Morón Cuba

Morón
The roads were pretty empty and it was a weekday, not so many people had cars and there were donkeys pulling carts and farm animals on the roads. Most of the city looked like it needed a fresh coat of paint and many roads weren't paved. Our first stop was at a bank on the main strip to get money for shopping, not that we'd need much. In Moron there is nothing to buy, the store was pretty empty, there wasn't much except coffee, rum, cigarettes, a few essentials and some random food products. There weren't many stores or restaurants and for a town of 60k people, saying it lacked services is an understatement.
We ate at some restaurant which was just in someone's house with no signs, probably the drivers' friend who got a kickback. It was some seafood feast that was surprisingly expensive and not that great but who were we to argue. We then asked where to buy souvenirs and were taken to a shack in someone's backyard (more kickbacks) and I bought this mask.
After a few hours and not much excitement, some of us were ready to leave. I decided to stay with one friend and asked what the locals did for fun, they brought us to a rooftop pool which had seen better days while they dropped the others off back at the resort. By the time our ride returned I was beginning to regret my decision. We then asked about the local nightlife and there really wasn't much. We spent the night drinking in front of a snack shack across from a park.
This is about all I'm willing to share and to tell you the truth in retrospect I'm glad to have ventured off the resort. Experiences like these are rare and the world is changing. I don't mind all-inclusive resorts for a few days but prefer the local culture. I want to write about more of my travels, Moron was just the start.
Thank you for reading

Yeah for sure, I've been around the world a few times. Nothing beats hanging out with the locals.

Interesting story. Most people go to Cuba to stay on the resorts and appreciate the check point. Going beyond it is definitely going to result in some #sketchymemories. Thanks for sharing and joining. Good luck.
