Well, I didn't think my first actual post would be about a skier. But when you manage to finish a World Cup Downhill course on just one ski it becomes noteworthy.
On Thursday, Pawel Babicki of Poland started off the World Cup Downhill event in Bormio, Italy on two skis, but very early in his run his left ski went flying off across the course. Babicki not only managed to remain upright for the entire course, he also didn't miss a single gate on his way down the mountain.
He managed to finish with a time of 2 minutes, 33.42 seconds which was only good for 67th out of 67 entrants, but yet was just 36.47 seconds slower than the overall winner, Italian Dominik Paris.
It was strikingly similar to American Bode Miller's run in Bormio in 2005. However Miller wiped out before the finish line in his run.
