SKYCOIN PROJECT ON SKYWIRE LAUNCH NASDAQ, UNITED NATIONS, BINANCE AND NEW SKYMINERS

It has been a flurry of activities in what has been monumental few weeks for skycoin project and there is no stopping the revolution championed by the man called Synth .

This started with the skycoin development team receiving well deserved recognition for their hard work from independent Github auditors DarpalRating who have ranked Skycoin #24 out of all popular crypto projects .
This would have changed at the time of writing this report as the testnet of the sky wire project is live now and working .

This was followed by the consensus conference(World biggest blockchain conference ) where the skycoin team made their presence felt. The skyminer machine was the cynosure of all eyes and other projects as skycoin became the first and only project in the cryptospace to have a custom designed hardware to power the new decentralized, free and faster Internet.

This brought so much attention to the project that NASDAQ had to do an interview with the marketing Director of skycoin Danish Chaudry .

A few days later, it was the turn of the United Nations to recognize the tremendous benefits Skycoin project brings to the world. As if the media attention was not enough, the skycoin project was on schedule as they launched the testnet for skywire on the 22nd of may 2018.

What started as an idea in Synth’s notebook has now grown to a network of over 2300 official nodes and many thousands more DIY nodes spread around the globe ready to be connected to create Sky wire.
As stated in the whitepaper the testnet allows the team to ensure Skywire is ready for broader adoption. Operators of official Skyminer and select DIY operators will receive Skycoin for their participation in the testnet. In this phase, the network functions as an overlay — traffic between Skywire nodes must travel over the existing Internet unless the nodes are directly connected over Ethernet or WiFi.

In Skywire meshnet, each node has a unique Public Key as its own address. Each application running on nodes has its own APP Key as its own address. This allows node applications to communicate with each other, forming the entirety of the Skycoin ecosystem .

In order to encourage rapid development of the Skywire network, during the testnet stage, the stable operation of Skywire nodes will lead to a reward in Skycoin for the user. This is skycoin’s way of saying thank you to the community members who have long supported the project and to incentivize growth of the network. All the Skycoin rewarded in this process will directly come from the official team, therefore participant will need to submit an application to the official team to obtain Skycoin rewards, whether you are running an official Skyminer or a DIY miner.

All the users who have purchased a Skyminer through the official channel will be whitelisted after submitting their applications. As long as the Skyminer stays online for 75% of each period of rewards, the rewards will be issued to the user according to the wallet information submitted.

As for those who have a DIY miner, they will enter a waitlist arranged in a chronological order after submitting their application. When the user maintains an average of 75% uptime for a month of observation, while being at the top of the waitlist queue, they will be accepted onto the whitelist. They will then receive rewards for the coming period on the condition of meeting the 75% uptime during the period.

The current rate of admission of DIY miners from the waitlist will be set to 50 a week. A device with multiple nodes is considered as one Skyminer. The rate of whitelisting new DIY miners will gradually increase in the future with the development of Skywire.

As supporters of the project were still trying to digest this news and getting their skyminers ready for whitelisting, out of the blues came the news that Skycoin will be listed today the 24th of may 2018 at the world largest exchange Binance.

One of the biggest criticism skycoin has had through the year was people could not buy skycoin from any major exchange. The team was working quietly and in line with non-disclosure; they did everything to reassure their community and investors about their imminent listings in some of the biggest exchanges in the world.
In addition, the skycoin team is really focused on getting the technology right and allowing the technology to market itself

The team has plans to convert coinhours generated by keeping skycoins in the wallet to skycoins like Neo currently generates gas .
Holding Skycoin in a Sky wallet automatically generates Coin Hours at a rate of 1 Coin Hour per Skycoin per hour. The most prominent feature of Coin Hours is that they keep the Skywire network free of transaction fees

Coin Hours are used to purchase bandwidth on Skywire, thus incentivizing the mesh network. Coin Hours can be used to purchase items in games like Kittycash. Coin Hours will be used to pay for services on dapps built on the network. Coin Hours can also be used as currency and will be tradable on the Sky DEX for other cryptocurrencies when it is available
However, your coin hours will go to the exchange if you leave it at the exchange . This gives you an opportunity to accumulate coin hours and become a whale when it is listed in the nearest future

There are a couple of groundbreaking collaborations/partnership that is coming to the skycoin projects and due to non-disclosure agreements, nothing much can be said at the moment
Second generation miners are already at advance stage with antennae and a manufactured prototype of the custom designed OpenWrt router by the skycoin team .

Future Skyminers will be equipped with this router containing six 100Mb and two 1Gb ports and a software configuration dashboard.

These second generation miners will be the main stay of the mainnet that will commence once the testnet is done
