2019, a slacker's paradise

you have cheap, genetically modified cerals and milk to stuff your face with in your pijamas and slippers that avoids doing dishes. you have your mom's basement, you have netflix for $10/month with full seasons of shows to fall into commercial free.

you have pizza delivery to your door
you have uber if you ever need to go anymore

you have your baby boom parents or grandparents who made money via the golden years of pensions, those old benefits for government workers, and those rising home real estate values.

you have internet to play MMORPs day and night, you have your choice from dozens of gaming systems, websites, tabletop, online portals, and streaming, thousands upon thousands. you have movies on demand, downloadable, and saved in the cloud; no storage space required. you need no physical possessions besides a few monitors, a saggy couch, and a comfortable pair of jeans.

the 1% are in charge of media, politics, and economics, so there's no pressure to stand for something, everyone knows the system is corrupt, there's no need to prevaricate about it or choose sides. the chinese are ascending so no one expects much from americans anymore. but even so, you live inside a military empire, so you feel well protected. your currency is the financial engine of the world via gunboat diplomacy still outside your perimeter of guilt/responsibility.

you don't need to read or learn to figure anything out, if there's ever an issue someone's already explained it all already on youtube. no one reads anymore so there's no need to compete as an intellectual. none of your friends can afford to go to college so there's no need to be an educated poser. only the educated get good jobs, so the blue collar guys can't rub you with their earning prowess because they can't make a decent living either.

the permanent underclass is an accepted fact, and you're on the stylish side of that equation. that old axiom is true more than ever; 'less is more' and dudeism reigns. your tunes are free on spotify and there is no presumption of attending religious services either... the world is completely atheist at heart. lax morals are the rage, experimentation with drugs, and sharing and gigging, without any real expectations of that old dreaded "success", just to do, dawdle, diddle and otherwise enjoy in a chill way what you like.

being a slacker in 2019, it's hard to argue against our easy going ways
