How to save a Sloth

in slothcoin •  8 years ago  (edited)

Maybe swap to a token?

What would be best to use and how to do this?

The two permanent nodes were lost

After a few blockchain split attacks that we, the Slothcoin community {Also known as 'Slothies'}, countered succesfully, another challenge was added. The two permanent nodes were apparantly shut down. A possible solution would be that all Slothcoin peers would open an external TCP port 5107 on their router. Or two new virtual servers could be set up to make permanent nodes for as long as needed. Yet I consider these only to be temporary solutions. Slothcoin needs a long term solution. But how to arrange this fast, yet, easy and safe?

One good fellow Steem member and Slothy mate @juanmiguelsalas and I already had contact about this. And the most healthy solution seems to be a swap. In a way that it gets Slothcoin as a Token on another blockchain. Now there is Ethereum, NXT and Bitshares that offer a possible solution. And maybe if time is on the Sloth its side then the Steem Community Tokens {SCT} are a great option to be considered. Unfortunately I am short on hours in my day currently, should even better cut down on Steem posting. What would be of great value is that a mobile wallet would support Sloth tokens. And as far as I know that would only leave Bitshares to be as the platform to fit. Also offering trade on its Decentralized Exchange {DEX}.

Still in the suggestion fase, so any support and/ or ideas are welcome at this stage. How to go about this in the best possible way? Time will tell if the Slothies get to see their beloved Sloth thrive in a new blokchain home. For now it is time for me to get back to my overfilled agenda first. Sloth will take its time anyway, as all good thing do take time...

Have a great one!

Thanks for this info.

You are welcome!

do you know how related bitshares and steem to each other? im wondering if they are run by a mother organization or company.

They share the same innitial programmer who is now working on EOS: Daniel Larimer. Bitshares got the Graphene blockchain and at first that was where Steem ran on. Yet, Steem has its own developement company SteemIt and its blockchain developed into Chainbase. The developers of Bitshares are united in Cryptonomex.

As far as I know they are all substantive companies. The blockchains themselves, the software, are all Free and MIT Open Source.

I see. What about BitSpace? How is it related to Steem & Bitshares?

BitSpace is a substantive company (hub?) from Norway, specialized in blockchain Fintech. They have an account at Steem too, that serves as the blog for their website. At least one of the company members, I know of, had/has fame and glory at Steem.

BitSpace developes Bitgate and partnered up with Steemit Inc, Bitshares, Blockpay etc. And some well know Steem members are advisors to Bitgate.

Soon I expect there will be more news about this here at Steem...

i'm lucky, i found someone who could my answer questions?
Last question, why Steem has 2 currencies, STEEM and SBD?

Glad I could be of help!

Steem Backed Dollar is a smart contract, an Asset/Token so you will. Which was ment to be pegged to match the value of one US Dollar. To make it easier for people to use in real life situations.

Behind the 1 SBD there is always a certain amount of Steem that will make up the amount to be about 1 USD in value. Imagine the market price of Steem would be $ 3.00 then 0.33 Steem would be needed to back the value of 1 SBD.

As 0.33 x 3.00 is about 1 USD. That is the way it is done in Bitshares too with things like bitUSD and bitEUR. The value is matched against a fiat coin value.

In Steem this resulted in a smart contract that creates Steem Backed Dollar, or SBD.

Hope this answered your quistion.

NOTE: The market started trading in SBD too, that made it actually tougher than a US Dollar. It was being used to store value in when USD-Tether went down below 1 US Dollar. That did give SBD a good solid value and it stayed that way. Or is the USD losing value rapidly? That could be true too...

Save the Slothies! :) Re-steemed for more visibility... maybe it will be also good to post a link of this post in the Bitcointalk forum.

May the Sloth be with us! :)

Thanks for the ReSteem Juan!

It might be good to do an update/ link at Bitcointalk indeed.

Just noticed that Sloth was added to another exchange, besides Cryptopia. Slothcoin now is at Tradesatoshi too.

Sloth all the way! :-)

OMG! This is a good news :) I will check it now.
Do not need to thank me for the re-Steem ;) You are welcome!

Think that little Slothy is taking its time, yet it is getting somewhere!

Have a great day Juan!

Haha never heard of slothcoin before - love the name...
If you want a mobile wallet that supports sloth tokens i also think Bitshares is the way to go

I am also all for Bitshares. Point apart, you should try to mine also Slothcoins. It is possible to mine with a normal computer with the miner inside the wallet. It is like to have a taste how it was to mine Bitcoins in the beginning ;)

Cool thanks a lot, may give it a try!

Think that it is settled on Bitshares UIA then. ;-)

Okay, got to run now, hahaha. Later!

It has been around for a few years, yet it tends to take things Sloth. =D

That was indeed the thing that made moste sense: Bitshares, as Bitshares-Munich really has got the right wallet and POS app to matcht that seems to support tokens too.

Resteeming this post would help a lot.
I guess crypto coins need to be supported by all means.
They are valuable coins whose purpose is phenomenal.

Thank you for your support!

Cryptos are important indeed.

Yes and you're welcome!
Keep going!
Gosteem!

Steem on! :-)

haha awesome coin :) when it is on bitshares I might get into it ;)

Thanks! That is another reason to get Slothy there ASAP! ;-)
