Slothicorn (SLOTHICORN!) My Creative Commons Art Contest Entry

in slothicorn •  7 years ago

There's a very interesting project that recently caught my attention here on Steemit. Sure, it should have caught my attention last week, but like the Great Horned Sloth I to can be a little slow.

"Slow to Move, Slow to Sell"

I made some documentation of the background character as I drew it in my sketchbook.

@stellabelle has outlined the rules for the contest here https://steemit.com/slothicorn/@stellabelle/rules-for-submitting-a-post-to-slothicorn

VERY interesting info about Slothicorn, Creative Commons and crypto https://steemit.com/slothicorn/@stellabelle/can-slothicorn-become-the-ultimate-funding-solution-for-creative-commons-crypto-artists

In a nut shell it's perhaps the first viable attempt at paying creative commons artist for there work, right here on Steemit!

Creative Commons is basically "a range of creative works available for others to build upon legally and to share". When you create and publish your CC work you are giving it to the world to do with as it may, legally.

This frees your artwork from copyright which can be a legal hassle for anyone wanting to use it in the future.

But what's in it for you? Well, payment on Steemit for one. Secondly you are contributing to a vast warehouse of copyright free works that can be used by yourself or anyone else.

Take a look at @stellabelle's posts (linked above) about the subject for more information about what it is and why.
