in smalltalk •  8 years ago  (edited)

If you would read only one thing right now, let it be this! The most amazing people on Steemit can be found in this post.

You're welcome!

My first post on Steemit didn't seem to gain much traction but I enjoyed the interaction I had with some folks out here.

I'm presenting you with the maiden edition of SmallTalk's Amazing People on Steemit (SAPoS).

This is an appreciation post I'll try to do everyday to thank all those who had taken time out to interact with me and other members of the community.

@son-of-satire , thank you for the discussion of self esteem and how not to be fooled into focusing on the wrong things.

@dynamicpimp thank you for the dose of inspiration for the day.

Thank you also to @vampiretta for sharing the importance of having a "me" time. Your pictures are very lovely!

@justtryme90 you kind words are greatly appreciated. Thanks for the follow too. Hopefully others get to join in pretty soon.

@shaka you got me really interested in Dublin today and your recommendations were so thoughtful. Thank you!

@stephenkendal thanks for the welcome and I'm looking forward to a "Steemit Bestseller" soon!

@jumaidafajar from Indonesia! it was nice talking to you.

@steevc thanks for clarifying what you meant by "non-technical" here. It meant a lot to me.

A big thank you to @sweetsssj for the amazing post on Hong Kong. I'll hit you up when i'm ready!

In case you missed it, @karenmckersie was blazing hot today and she blessed us with some heat. Thanks for the follow. I appreciate it.

Thanks to @faddat for giving us some reasons to stick with steemit. We are happy you're still with us.

@seablue thank you for that wonderful explanation on the difference between the two bitcoin factions!

And the biggest thank you goes to the first name on our wall of fame. For being the first to follow @smalltalk. I enjoyed reading your posts and look forward to many more. Thank you @fisteganos

Everyday I try to interact with the community. Validation in any form is very important for writers and content creators and a simple "well done" can go a long way in boosting their confidence.

The validation I need from you is your precious follow. I know you don't give it away that easily but i'm asking you to consider it. If you don't like what I do, you could always unfollow.

Your interaction with me keeps me motivated!

Greetings, sir. We have crossed paths before. :-)

I'm following now. Have fun!

Yes we definitely have! And we'll hopefully do many more times.
I'm so excited for the follow. Thanks a lot.

You're welcome.

You are welcome, I appreciate what you are trying to do and think it's a great idea. I have been trying to be more active leaving comments for people as of late especially if their posts have none. The conversations and showing others appreciation, that's the best part of social media.

It's indeed not "social" without these interactions. Comments go a long way no matter how short. Thanks again for your kind words. 😊

Thanks for the mention. I never knew I was this amazing. I'm humbled by this act.

Of course you're amazing!

This is a great post. You should do a weekly roundup.

Hey! Thanks for the follow and upvote!!!
Do you mean I should do a weekly roundup of the daily posts? Or just make the posts weekly instead of daily?

Haha, just followed so I didn't know you did this daily. That's even better. I think, although making it weekly would give your recommendations more value based on supply and demand alone.

I will definitely look into this. Thank you.
Also should the posts be called volume, episode, or what do you suggest.
What I mean is should it be
#sapos Volume 1?
#sapos episode 1?
Or something entirely different?
What do you think?

Depending on if you're doing it weekly or daily, you could go different ways with it. Weekly I would go with volume, as it makes me think more of books and longer form content. Daily I might stick with episode as it's more like a short tv show.

You could also toy with your quality vs. quantity by adding less people to the post, but giving more information about that person. Instead of just a short blurb on ten people, you could do a 250 word write up on 3-5, talking about what posts you loved, what their area of expertise is, who they are. You could even take this a step further and do a quick interview with each candidate. REally make me feel why they're amazing. I do get the feeling (from my short time here) that steemit is a quality>quantity kind of place.

I'm spit balling here, but if you wanted to do a daily you could set each day to be a specific type of steemer. Like, Monday you look at life bloggers, tuesday is about artists, wed is best meta discussions.

I think you're right in focusing minnows though. This sites greatest weakness is it's inability to retain new users because the wealth is aggregated in the hands of a few - most of whom don't vote. I think a good chunk of change will be made by steemers who aggregate steemers.

Just some ideas for you. Try and come up with some better ones, I'd be happy to discuss this more with you :)

So I spent the last hour reading this over and over again. There are some wonderful thoughts here. I appreciate you taking time out to write this. I'll definitely keep you updated.
Thank you!

Okay so now i'm wondering, since you've got these stats, is there any way you could maybe help these "undervalued" posts? Have you thought about that? Maybe upvoting them with your power?
Don't mind me I like to talk and ask questions. 😊
Please reply tho.

Thanks for the mention I appreciate it. Stephen
