Just like everything else, new technologies are coming to a home near you. So please don't bash me when I raise the red flag. I was just recently watching one of the Canadian TV channels out of Vancouver B.C., and they ran a investigative report on the new smart Home technology. If you are not familiar with this tech , let me explain the basics. With a smart phone you can now raise and lower the thermostat on your furnace, lock and unlock your doors and monitor your home with remote security cameras, and much more...........from anywhere!
This manufacturer states that you need to first purchase a Z- wave smart hub " to be the brain of your home ".
Your personal security is of the upmost importance, and so with the help of three White hat hacker's ( the good guy's in the world of hacking ), they showed the world that in a very short period of time they got into the secure password and into a home. They simply unlocked the front door, from a van on the street. The point was to tell everyone just how important It is to have a strong password, and to not reuse password's.
There were also security cameras that people were setting up for 24/7 close circuit tv monitoring without a password, and there was a internet link where ANYONE could watch you.
I know my own grown and married son has security cameras on 24/7 that do have a secure password down in Seattle and twice his password has been hacked. I think that if you are using this technology you need to be extra secure with passwords, and maybe even change them often.........
Technology is good, we just need to use it safely .......
Thanks for stopping by, and change those passwords @silvertop
