The multitude of different abstract layers, levels, and dimensions one can see when peering thru clear ice that has some form of illumination, be it from the sun or cellphone... There is just so much intricacy and randomness to Mother Nature's effortless, yet astounding pieces of work.
Air bubbles, water contaminates, dirt particles, bugs, and grass.. anything that gets trapped and frozen into the crystal structure becomes entombed in the art piece, created by Mother Nature herself. Frozen in time, perhaps literally in some cases, where I just read the other day how certain caterpillars freeze thru winter and thaw back to life somewhere in NW Canada. Amazing.
Although the temperatures did not go well above freezing at all today, there was only a tiny bit of melting, perhaps just sublimation, but there will be plenty of refreezing tonight to make for dangerous driving conditions and perhaps risks of tree branch breakage.
Expecting more ICE on top of it all! Hopefully the layer of ice we have now will melt a bit more by Wednesday.
