Hey guys, I thought you guys may be interested in this. So this morning while making a post on the Smoke Network ie Smoke.IO I happenned to notice something looked different. It took a second to hit me but I realized that there was an advertisement showing up at the top of the screen.

I know over the years here on Steemit there's been talk of running ads on the platform to create more money to further develope the platform and possibly share with creators. I thought it was kind of interesting that this Steemit clone Smoke.IO is running ads.

What's your thoughts? Do you like that Steemit is ad free? Or do you think Steemit could be further along if it had the additional resources and money that ads provide?

I really like the fact that I don't deal with banner ads on steemit.com. I think of this as a new paradigm and if we invite the old one in...

In a perfect world Id choose no ads over ads, however in the grand scheme of things I don't find banner ads to be that distracting or that big of an issue and the reality is for creators to actually make money and be paid you need business and ads, otherwise were all in this situation earning pennies and peanuts for our postings. Youtube creators oftentimes can make halfway decent ad money where as platforms like VidMe that rely on the support of your peers dont wind up making any money and then wind up going out of business. While I'm not a huge fan of ads I think it could provide more money to creators and/or to improve this platform.

Wow.. I didn't even notice. Then I went and actually looked and yes there it is .. I'd have to say immediate thought would be I don't mind the ad if it's paid for with SMOKE or STEEM if its on Steemit.com that would really help increase the value of the token

in my opinion, it is a reasonable suggestion to develop a steemit sytem so that it can add more competitiveness to steemit, but that can all be accepted depending on the founders and the stakeholders....

yeah maybe if every post every person made had a variety of monetization / "real estate" options, individual page curators (anyone) could sort of haggle their own deal with advertisers..
and be able to opt out for pictures of the family or whatever.
