Social - Donating Clothes

in social •  7 years ago

Before I can really take care of our environment, I need to figure out how to live peacefully and more or less worry-free. That's why it's important for me to live ecological AND caring.

Thankfully both can be achieved simultaneously!
In the last blogpost I thought about the ecological aspect oft textile, fashion and second hand - but of course I can always just donate my clothes. This way my unused wardrobe is getting worn by people who really need it. Internationally one of the my favorite donation centers is the non profit OXFAM. Personally I use the local red cross center.
Oh and I keep reading about the social problems with donation containers. There are many reports about profit focused containers and people who sell the cloth for a high price instead of giving them to people in need. Another problem seems to be, that the appereal might end up in developing countries. The local appereal producers can't keep up with the prices and lose their business. Frankly speaking I am not entirely sure if that's really that bad, however this is an other topic.

Have you ever donated clothes?
