If socialism was summed up with one word, then that word would be share. And share is about the only nice description that it has, so its use a lot...but lets think about sharing, how about we all share bank accounts! Would'nt everybody win if we did that? Pretend that there are 100,000 active users on the steemit platform, and we all decided to pool our money together, after all whats yours is mine and whats mine is yours...right <that's wrong> In this time bomb of a situation we will all have a common bank account (we will say that on avrage everyone contributed $1 per person) We have already ran into the first problem. Only some people will have a dollar to give, and many others can only contribute $0.10, of course the balance will be covered by the wealthy. I have heared it discribed like this: pretend that there is a special bar that opened up, and this bar will charge people like socialism treats. The first two guys are unemployed so they will recieve there drinks for free! The next three guys have a job but they are not well to do, so they recieve drinks at a 50% discount (because they deserve a break) The next 4 guys that enter the bar represent the middle of the road, there drinks will be regular price (in our experiment these guys are the most numerous) Our final guy to enter the bar has obviously encountered many 'lucky breaks' in life because at his job he makes $100,000 per year. This guy can afford to pay full price for his drink. (we will say that each drink costs $3 a piece) In fact when this wealthy individual goes into the socialist bar not only will he pay for his drink, but he will also pay for the drinks of the first two guys, the bill for thoes two folks was $18)
The wealthy guy left the bar feeling like he had been robbed because he ended up paying $21...and he only got one drink. Some people would classify the situation as being discriminatory.
Next time the wealthy individual will not go into the socialist bar. Of course then poor people will recieve free drinks courtesy of the middle class.
Socialism can be summed up by a single pretty word...and that word is sharing. What people are not told is that if socialism were summed up with two words, then the words would be 'sharing poverty'
