As old and cynical as I am, it's hard to imagine the touching naivete of such thoughts.

But, non-cynically, the answer is an emphatic, "No," because we don't agree on what will produce the best future for our grandchildren.

Socialists sincerely believe a government managed society and economy will make the world better for our grandkids, but I sincerely believe that would make the world worse.

Focusing on the kids doesn't get us away from the essential conflict - even if we all agree we want a wealthier, more equitable, environmentally healthier world - of how we get there from here.
