The "Horrors" of Capitalism Hidden in Plain Sight - a Simple Lesson in the Negative Effects of Socialism

This Bernie Sanders supporter (not our @berniesanders) asked a buddy of mine (who owned this kick-ass hubless Harley Davidson), "I wonder how many people could have been fed with all the money you shelled out for that ridiculous motorcycle."

My friend replied, "It's really hard to tell. But I'm sure it helped feed the dealers family

it fed a lot of families in Milwaukee Wisconsin who built it,

it fed the people who make the tires,

it fed the people who made the components that went into it,

it fed the people in the copper mine who mined the copper for the wires,

it fed people in Decatur Il. at Caterpillar who make the trucks that extract and haul the copper ore,

You know buddy, that's a really good question! I guess I really don't know how many people it fed! But I'm sure it was a LOT!

That is the difference between capitalism and the welfare mentality. Under Capitalism, when you buy something you put money into people's pockets and give them dignity and reward them for their labor and skills.

Under Socialism, when you give someone something for nothing , you rob them of their dignity and self worth. Capitalism is freely giving your money in exchange for something of value. Socialism is taking your money against your will (um, that's called theft) and shoving something down your throat that you never asked for. In essence, Socialism teaches the entire culture that it's okay for some people (politicians) to steal the product of your laboring energies and give it to some lazy fat-ass who hasn't lifted a finger to help those around him or contribute positively in any way.

Sadly when people think of "Capitalism," they are really thinking of Crony Capitalism, which isn't Capitalism at all!
